The Predictive And Discriminative Values Of Serum Lipids, Upoproteins And Apolipoproteins In Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract

Methods:
Between April 1993• and October 1993, 138 patients were admitted to the department of Cardiology, Selcuk University School of Medicine Konya with suspicion of CAD.
The CAD group consisted of 91 cases (63 men and 28 women). The control group consisted of 47 cases (22 men and 25 women).

Results:
The mean age and sex distribution of the CAD groups were presented in Table 1.. Males were predominate in patients with one and three vessels disease.
Clinical characteristics of CAD and control groups are shown in Table 2. The prevalence f hypertension was higher in two vessels disease group (p<O.O1).

Discussion:
The importance of lipids., lipoproteins and apolipoproteins have recently been known better in prediction CAD and in promoting regression and presence of family history as a risk factor for CAD 22-26.
